Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with strong analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. It works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, leading to decreased production of prostaglandins and lipo-oxygenase products. This results in effective pain relief, reduced inflammation, and improved joint mobility in arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
